We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design of high profile infrastructure projects in Toronto, and other locations within Ontario. The hired candidate will be familiar with working in Toronto and Ontario, have an up to date knowledge of all the Agencies in Toronto as well as the major provincial agencies such as Metrolinx. The position is based in Toronto but may require travel within and outside of Ontario.

In joining a multidisciplinary team of Engineers experienced in Transit and Infrastructure projects the job responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

Play a significant role in the leadership of the group

Responsible for company-wide projects/activities

Can identify potential markets and procure work independently

Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them

Responsible on projects for financial performance, client relations and team motivation

Incorporate sustainable design methods into all aspects of design

Report writing

Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines

Visit project sites during construction

Manage work and development of other staff

Manage medium or large projects

Represent group at board level meetings

Contribute to corporate business strategy and plan long term business focused solutions

Requirements:

Bachelors/Masters Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with a sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals

Qualified professionals will have a minimum 12-15 years of experience with prior work done on infrastructure projects in and around Toronto and Ontario

PEng license required

Sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals

Working knowledge of Civil 3D, inroads and other design packages

Prior managerial experience is preferred.

We are currently seeking out Sr. Civil/Municipal Engineers for our Toronto office to assist with delivery of major infrastructure projects in a leading design role.

Working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary design team, you will be challenged in providing innovative solutions to our client's facility needs, preparing quality technical specifications, liaising locally and across Canada with clients and organizations related to the design, project approval process and construction reviews.

Other design activities include but are not limited to:

Viewed as a technical expert with recognized authority in areas of specialization, to be called upon to resolve problems of greater scope and complexity.

Plan, organize, and supervise work of staff of professionals and technicians.

Manage client needs, project scope, budget, resources, staff and schedule.

Apply experience on preliminary engineering, due diligence reports, earthworks, site servicing, field inspections, proposal development and project management.

Prepare engineering design calculations, design briefs and technical reports for municipal infrastructure, Class EA and land development projects.

Attend client meetings and prepare meeting minutes/notes as required.

Assist with training and development of more junior technical staff.

Supervise junior engineers, technologists and designers.

While the position will be office based, opportunities to travel to site can be expected.

Specific experience and qualifications in the following areas are also required:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

Be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.

Will have a minimum of 10 years of municipal engineering experience (exceptional candidates with less experience may be considered) in municipal infrastructure, transportation, water/wastewater, urban land development, and landscape architecture. Experience working with HEC-RAS, OTTHYMO, and other related design software used in GTA to do hydrology, storm, sanitary and watermain calculations. Experience with “Green” or “Complete” streets and/or LID an asset/benefit.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership, solid municipal design experience and excellent interpersonal communication skills with clients and team members alike.

Extended experience working with civil computer software programs such as Microstation, InRoads, Autocad, Civil 3D.

Design experience in utility relocation coordination, construction staging, traffic management, site grading, storm drainage, sanitary sewer design,

watermain design, water distribution systems and pumping stations.

Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.

Self motivated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills and quick to deliver.

Well developed written communication skills in the preparation of technical reports, correspondence and design standards/guidelines a must.

Well developed consultative management skills, effective presentation skills and proven supervisory ability.

Must be a highly motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, team player committed to providing high quality service. Must also be willing to engage with your project teams, and be prepared to mentor and guide other staff.
