As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you will take part in the following kinds of activities:

• Electrical load calculations

• Assign circuitry for Power and Lighting devices

• Report writing

• Work on projects using 3D AutoCAD

• Give structure to ideas – lots of “taking a first pass” at spreadsheets, reports and analyses for discussion later rather than instruction

• Attend meetings and learn from listening, asking questions and discussion

• Work with people from other disciplines and/or vendors to gain knowledge on new subjects

• Attend meetings - listen, ask questions. Be involved in discussions with other disciplines and Architects to gain knowledge & experience.

Required:

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Bachelor Degree in Architectural Engineering (BSAE)

• BSEE: coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, electric machines

• BSEE: coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, electric machines

• BSAE: coursework in building systems design and electrical power systems design

• BSAE: Demonstrated interest in the electrical engineering industry with an emphasis on the power side of the discipline

• Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Work and Excel

• Skills in planning and organizing

• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both in person and in writing

• Attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork

Preferred:

• 3.3 GPA or higher

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

• EIT/ FE certification

• BSEE: coursework in building systems design

• BSAE: coursework focusing on specialties within the construction side of the electrical engineering industry

• Internship experience in a consulting firm with emphasis on electrical design

• Academic research or testing with relevant focus

• Membership in IESNA, NFPA, IEEE

• Demonstrated interest in sustainability as evidenced by extracurricular activities, etc

• Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and other technologies new to the construction industry

• Experience with AutoCad, Revit MEP, Autodesk MEP, Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, or Project

• Proven ability to perform in a deadline situation

• Past history of technical presentations and technical writing, knowledge sharing with peers

• Evidence of teamwork and leadership such as professional accomplishment or honor society

We are currently seeking an Electrical CAD Technician to work as part of a design team on a number of projects in our Toronto office. The hired candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers and assist with various aspects including but not limited to:

Designing and drafting lighting and receptacle/branch circuits.

Designing and drafting lighting systems based on a chosen fixture.

Designing and drafting fire alarm systems.

Drafting plant rooms and coordinated engineering sections.

Coordination between in house structural, mechanical, plumbing and fire engineering disciplines, and with external architects.

Issuing and archiving drawings and specifications.

Prepare and review drawings detailing the design as instructed

Prepare reports as requested

Work on defined tasks under close supervision

Requirements:

Qualification in Auto CAD

Minimum of 2 years experience in electrical design to Canadian codes and standards with a proven track record of designing electrical systems.

Experience in Automated building systems (ABS) and/or site experience is a plus.

Qualities:

Good communication skills essential for team-based working

Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer. This is a challenging role and the successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering large and complex building electrical systems designs.

Your responsibilities will involve:

• Work under nominal supervision taking responsibility for definable parts of the project;

• Design and make calculations for lighting systems and associated controls

• Design electrical systems predominantly for building construction projects including power distribution systems, lighting, fire alarm and other signal systems

• Undertake electrical systems design, predominantly for building projects, including power systems, lighting, fire alarm and other signal systems

Qualified professionals will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural/Electrical engineering with a sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals as they relate to building systems. PE license is a plus. Knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72, knowledge of high voltage distribution within/around large buildings and sites, and an interest in sustainability and renewable energy technologies are required. Qualities include excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication with colleagues and clients of all levels, and excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment. Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges. May be required to visit job sites during construction so should be able to climb ladders etc.
