Our Boston (Cambridge) office is currently expanding and

seeking an Electrical Engineer. Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

Laying out and circuiting of Lighting and Power devices and plans.

Circuiting of all HVAC and miscellaneous equipment.

Preparation of load calculations.

Design and integration of renewable energy systems

Preparation of preliminary single line diagrams.

Preparation of preliminary Short circuit & Voltage drop calculations.

Requirements:

Passed FE exam and working towards PE

Bachelor’s degree in Architectural/Engineering or Electrical Engineering

3-5 years of work experience in the building electrical engineering field

Proficient in AutoCAD and any experience with 3-D CAD, specially Revit MEP is a plus

Familiar with National Electrical code, Mass State Building Code and Energy standards

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will learn and apply the following:

Electrical load calculations

Assign circuitry for Power and Lighting devices

Report writing

Work on projects using 3D AutoCAD

Give structure to ideas – lots of “taking a first pass” at spreadsheets, reports and analyses for discussion later rather than instruction

Work with people from other disciplines and/or vendors to gain knowledge on new subjects

Attend meetings - listen, ask questions. Be involved in discussions with other disciplines and Architects to gain knowledge & experience.

Necessary:

Working towards a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Bachelor Degree in Architectural Engineering (BSAE)

·

BSEE: coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, electric machines

·

BSEE: coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, electric machines

·

BSAE: coursework in building systems design and electrical power systems design

·

BSAE: Demonstrated interest in the electrical engineering industry with an emphasis on the power side of the discipline

Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Work and Excel

Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both in person and in writing

Preferred:

EIT/ FE certification

BSEE: coursework in building systems design

Academic research or testing with relevant focus

Membership in IESNA, NFPA, IEEE

Demonstrated interest in sustainability as evidenced by extracurricular activities, etc

Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and other technologies new to the construction industry

Experience with AutoCad, Revit MEP, Autodesk MEP, Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, and Project

Proven ability to perform in a deadline situation

Past history of technical presentations and technical writing, knowledge sharing with peers

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer. This is a challenging role and the successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering large and complex building electrical systems designs.

Your responsibilities will involve:

• Work under nominal supervision taking responsibility for definable parts of the project;

• Design and make calculations for lighting systems and associated controls

• Design electrical systems predominantly for building construction projects including power distribution systems, lighting, fire alarm and other signal systems

• Undertake electrical systems design, predominantly for building projects, including power systems, lighting, fire alarm and other signal systems

Qualified professionals will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural/Electrical engineering with a sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals as they relate to building systems. PE license is a plus. Knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72, knowledge of high voltage distribution within/around large buildings and sites, and an interest in sustainability and renewable energy technologies are required. Qualities include excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication with colleagues and clients of all levels, and excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment. Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges. May be required to visit job sites during construction so should be able to climb ladders etc.
