As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you will take part in the following kinds of activities:

• Electrical load calculations

• Assign circuitry for Power and Lighting devices

• Report writing

• Work on projects using 3D AutoCAD

• Give structure to ideas – lots of “taking a first pass” at spreadsheets, reports and analyses for discussion later rather than instruction

• Work with people from other disciplines and/or vendors to gain knowledge on new subjects

As a Graduate Security Engineer, you will take part in the following kinds of activities:

•

Prepare drawings and incorporate drawing markups detailing electronic security systems (ACAMS, CCTV, IDS, Operations Centers, etc.) designs as instructed

•

Develop standard drawings details.

•

Aid in the review of cut-sheets and RFIs

•

Help create specifications documents

•

Work on the assessment, survey and review of electronic security systems and resilience, risk and security protection programs

•

Aid in the preparation of reports as requested

•

Work on defined tasks under limited supervision.

•

Perform physical protection security system design calculations.

•

Research, evaluate and select or make recommendations in the selection of electronic security, surveillance and communications equipment for use in physical protection systems.

Coordinate work and physical security protection system requirements with engineers of other disciplines that may be in-house or external.

Attend meetings with senior staff to aid in the discussion and documentation of Client needs.

Attend construction site meetings with senior staff.

Take responsibility for sections of work which may include some supervision of other staff.

The Arup Energy Group focuses on identifying and supporting the development of solutions that reduce our clients’ energy costs and risks through intelligent, financially viable, and environmentally sustainable projects by means of retro-commissioning and energy conservation measure assessments. Our energy clients include utilities, state energy agencies, local governments, major pharmaceutical companies, large college campuses, hospitals, office buildings, and industrial facilities.

This position requires a broad knowledge of energy consuming systems, especially within existing facilities (HVAC, lighting, process loads, etc.), energy management systems, and various distributed energy technologies. Understanding and experience with project permitting, costing, and construction is preferred. We are seeking someone who is willing to see projects through to completion while excelling at customer relations. Most weeks will involve two to three days of local travel to customer sites with some travel to other regions of California. There may be travel to other locations in the U.S. as opportunities arise and as the engineer desires.

This individual should have the following skills:

• Knowledge of the retro-commissioning process for existing buildings: concepts, practices, and procedures.

Surface Water Management (Hydrology, Hydraulics & Drainage)

The preferred candidate will have a background in hydraulics/hydrology with experience in watershed planning and management. Experience of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, etc.) is required, with an ability to develop technical solutions for flood control and water quality through evaluation of pollutant sources and loading, flooding volumes and flow rates, and optimization of storage requirements.

Water Supply

The applicant shall be proficient in water demand estimating for typical as well as sustainable project types and shall be well versed and capable of specifying an array of efficiency and alternative supply strategies for reducing potable water demands.

Waste Water

Experience in planning and evaluation of waste water treatment options ranging from the prediction of flows and loads to the assessment of treatment technology options for cost, footprint, energy and maintenance requirements is desired.

A familiarity with Federal and California codes and regulations relating to storm water, flood control, water supply and wastewater treatment, and health and safety is desired. Experience in ecological engineering of wetland and river restoration projects as well as reservoir management and limnology are a plus. Experience in preparation of CEQA and NEPA environmental documentation are considered complimentary skills.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
