- Interface in significant manner with Buildings and Consulting Sectors.

- Responsibility for fostering creation of and reporting of cost estimate deliverables to internal and or external clients. 

- Communicate with external vendors extensively to satisfy all estimate needs. 

- Maintain compliance to AACESS formats for data collection and digestion into Arup systems.

- Address, counsel and advise on best approaches, level of detail, WBS, database application, etc of particular deliverables. 

- Suggest formats for deliverables that most effectively satisfy the output required by the internal or external client. 

- Familiarity of estimate system and capable of producing any order estimate, rough order of magnitude through detail. 

- Assure all estimate processes are applied appropriately and within the AACESS QMS.

The role:

The Learning & Development Manager will have responsibilities in curriculum development and prioritization of professional development efforts for Arup employees in the areas of communication, leadership and management, in addition to other subject matter as identified and determined by the goals and culture of the firm. The candidate should have the following experience:

Surface Water Management (Hydrology, Hydraulics & Drainage)

The preferred candidate will have a background in hydraulics/hydrology with experience in watershed planning and management. Experience of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, etc.) is required, with an ability to develop technical solutions for flood control and water quality through evaluation of pollutant sources and loading, flooding volumes and flow rates, and optimization of storage requirements.

Water Supply

The applicant shall be proficient in water demand estimating for typical as well as sustainable project types and shall be well versed and capable of specifying an array of efficiency and alternative supply strategies for reducing potable water demands.

Waste Water

Experience in planning and evaluation of waste water treatment options ranging from the prediction of flows and loads to the assessment of treatment technology options for cost, footprint, energy and maintenance requirements is desired.

A familiarity with Federal and California codes and regulations relating to storm water, flood control, water supply and wastewater treatment, and health and safety is desired. Experience in ecological engineering of wetland and river restoration projects as well as reservoir management and limnology are a plus. Experience in preparation of CEQA and NEPA environmental documentation are considered complimentary skills.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of professional experience, and an ability and willingness to apply knowledge and work independently to a range of challenging water resource problems. The candidate shall have a combination of project technical management, team management, client coordination and on-site experience. Strong written and oral skills are required as communications through written reports, presentations and client meetings occur frequently.
